Hello I’m Kai Emerson. I’m from Gallup, New Mexico—a dusty little town near the reservation where not much happens…  and that’s kind of the point. I’m an artist studying at MCC, just following the path of whatever creative thing pulls me in. Illustration’s where I’m most at home, but I’ve done some graphic design, animation, and all the stuff along with it. Give me some time and I’ll make something that speaks—be it a logo, a character, or a full piece.

     I didn’t always know I wanted to do art. I was one class away from finishing a comp sci degree when I took my first art course on a whim. That was it—cooked. Something about art, the way color, composition and just everything hits when they’re just right, it stuck with me. It still does. Art’s the one thing that feels worth the time—whether I’m making it or just watching someone else make it.
